Teacher Training Routes

Elston Hall Learning Trust have vast experience in Initial Teacher Training and are proud of our achievements in turning inexperienced trainees into outstanding teachers and leaders of the future. Many of our trainees now hold positions in middle and senior leadership roles across our Trust. It is expected that trainees will go on to work within their host school, although there is no absolute guarantee of employment. All our previous School Direct Trainees who have completed the course have achieved employment at the end of their training year.

Throughout your training you will be supported by a school-based mentor and be part of bespoke learning communities. We believe that investing in people’s training is vital to those people becoming the outstanding teachers that we need in the Teaching profession. Our trainees really appreciate the one to one guidance they get from their mentors, Trust year group teams and their schools. They enjoy meeting the other trainees across the Trust where they take part in professional meetings, as well as having the chance to reflect on their experiences within their teaching practice.

You will have sessions delivered at our linked universities (Wolverhampton & University of Birmingham) where you will explore different pedagogical ideas and learn different techniques to practise back in the classroom.

You will receive regular feedback on your teaching practice with support and guidance on how to plan and deliver lessons, as well as improving your practice within the lesson

We are proud of the CPD delivered at EHLT and the exciting programmes we offer for ITT across our Trust schools. We are proud of how many teachers we train remain in the profession and are making a real difference in schools across the city, impacting on the lives of children.

We offer three routes into teaching:

• School Direct Tuition Fee route
• Salaried School Direct route
• Apprenticeship in Teaching route

Our Teacher Training routes are delivered in partnership with the University of Wolverhampton and University of Birmingham.

The Partnership between EHLT and the Universities will ensure:

• an outstanding academic (The University of Wolverhampton) and 'hands-on' school-based experience in a variety of educational settings is delivered
• a bespoke training package for each trainee is provided
• trainee teachers are included in all aspects of the life of the school
• employment at the end of the training where suitable vacancies arise, or assist with gainful employment
