⚽ A Proud Performance from Our Elston B Team! ⚽

A huge well done to our Elston B team, who competed against St Anthony’s this evening in a fantastic game of football.

Elston found it tough in the early stages, with Khush making a few excellent saves, while Matheson and Kaiden bravely put their bodies on the line to block several early shots. St Anthony’s eventually took the lead with a well-worked goal to make it 1-0.

Elston showed fantastic grit and determination to get themselves back into the game, with Alvin producing a fantastic finish to make it 1-1! The game was finely balanced, but St Anthony’s regained the lead when the ball bounced kindly for them in the box and their striker made no mistake, finding the bottom corner.

The boys refused to back down, and their hard work was rewarded when Kaiden stepped up and scored a fantastic free kick to make it 2-2! 🔥

Elston went into half-time very much in the game, and in the second half they really stepped up the tempo. Tommie worked tirelessly up front, running himself into the ground to force mistakes and create opportunities. Ollie, Caelan, Ara and Jivraj kept the pressure on, playing some excellent passes in behind for Tommie to chase.

Elston created chance after chance, hitting the bar, striking the post and forcing the St Anthony’s goalkeeper into making some fantastic saves — but unfortunately, we just couldn’t find that third goal.

Then, against the run of play, St Anthony’s midfielder picked up the ball and unleashed a wonder strike from distance to make it 3-2. St Anthony’s went on to add another two goals to finish 5-2, a scoreline that certainly didn’t reflect the overall performance or the effort from our boys.

👏 What a fantastic effort from the whole team! Some of our players had never played in a competitive game before, yet they showed tremendous courage, determination and teamwork from start to finish.

Mr Green and Mr Turner are incredibly proud of every single one of you. 💚⚽

A big well done to St Anthony’s on their win, and we wish you all the very best for the rest of the season! 👏
