Year 6 represented the human heart using play dough to show the correct size and shape as well as depicting the arteries and veins. The children made a model of the human heart using a cup of juice, a glove and two straws. They put the glove over the cup and made two small holes for the straws to go through. Then, they inflated the glove and squeezed it to represent the heart contracting, and saw juice come out of one of the straws, showing how blood is pumped around the body

As their Elston Hall journey comes to a close, our Year 6 children had the opportunity to celebrate their achievements and make lasting memories at the Leavers' BBQ and Disco. Year 6 were visited today by our local PCSO, who spoke to them about staying safe and looking after their belongings as they prepare for the transition to secondary school. The session provided valuable advice and practical tips to help pupils feel confident and secure in their new environment.

The session was delivered in an age-appropriate way and helped pupils understand how their choices and actions can affect themselves and others. Children have been learning all about the fascinating history of Pop Art. They explored the work of famous artists such as Andy Warhol and Roy Lichtenstein, discovering how their bold and colourful artwork helped shape the Pop Art movement. The children identified and discussed key features of Pop Art, including the use of bright colours, repetition, popular culture imagery and striking visual impact. Our Year 6 pupils took part in Level 2 Bikability training, developing the skills and confidence needed to cycle safely on local roads. They showed great enthusiasm, responsibility, and determination, making excellent progress and demonstrating the importance of safe cycling habits for life.

On Friday 8th May, we celebrated the 100th birthday of Sir David Attenborough. During the day, the children learnt about this inspirational man through a range of engaging activities. We used the occasion to focus on our writing skills, with children across the school writing in a variety of genres linked to the work and achievements of this amazing man. 8 children from Year 5&6 competed in a swimming gala held at The Royal School in Wolverhampton. The children competed in individual and relay races against 10 other teams. Overall, the boys team finished 5th and the girls team finished 3rd demonstrating excellent teamwork and determination. A special well done to Evie who won gold in the 50m freestyle and our girls team (Evie, Penny, Ella & Zara) who won silver for their relay. A great effort from all of our team!

Elston Hall hosted an exciting Rocksteady concert featuring five talented bands with students from Year 2 to Year 5. The concert kicked off with the Elston Rockers brilliant rendition of ‘Stargazing.’ Following them, Lightning Storm took the stage, with a wonderful performance of ‘Roar.’ The Blackstar Jammers performed ‘Ghostbusters,’ encouraging plenty of audience participation that had everyone singing along!
