Year 6 Pop Art

Year 6 Bikability
Our Year 6 pupils took part in Level 2 Bikability training, developing the skills and confidence needed to cycle safely on local roads. They showed great enthusiasm, responsibility, and determination, making excellent progress and demonstrating the importance of safe cycling habits for life.

Celebrating 100 Years of Sir David Attenborough
On Friday 8th May, we celebrated the 100th birthday of Sir David Attenborough. During the day, the children learnt about this inspirational man through a range of engaging activities. We used the occasion to focus on our writing skills, with children across the school writing in a variety of genres linked to the work and achievements of this amazing man. Year 5 & 6 Shine at Wolverhampton Swimming Gala
8 children from Year 5&6 competed in a swimming gala held at The Royal School in Wolverhampton. The children competed in individual and relay races against 10 other teams. Overall, the boys team finished 5th and the girls team finished 3rd demonstrating excellent teamwork and determination. A special well done to Evie who won gold in the 50m freestyle and our girls team (Evie, Penny, Ella & Zara) who won silver for their relay. A great effort from all of our team!

Elston Hall’s Young Rock Stars Take the Stage
Elston Hall hosted an exciting Rocksteady concert featuring five talented bands with students from Year 2 to Year 5. The concert kicked off with the Elston Rockers brilliant rendition of ‘Stargazing.’ Following them, Lightning Storm took the stage, with a wonderful performance of ‘Roar.’ The Blackstar Jammers performed ‘Ghostbusters,’ encouraging plenty of audience participation that had everyone singing along! Strong Team Effort from Year 6 Tag Rugby
Our Year 6 tag rugby team participated in a tournament held at Wolverhampton Rugby Club where 12 schools competed. The team played a total of 11 matches against all the participating schools winning 5 games, drawing 3 and losing 3 games. The children played well as a team, showing great improvements as the day went on and really developing their togetherness and communication. Reflexions Visit Year 6
The Reflexions Team visited our Year 6 children to help them prepare for their upcoming SATs. The session focussed on supporting pupils with any worries or anxieties they may be feeling. The team shared helpful advice and simple strategies to manage nerves, build confidence and reduce feelings of anxiety. Wolves Premier League Stars tournament

Safer Internet Day is the largest global online safety campaign. Year 6 Sewing Workshop
Year 6 children have been exploring War of the Worlds alongside history lessons on different wars and the symbolism of the poppy. In art, the children experimented with oil pastels and pencil crayons to design their own poppy sketches. In DT they practised sewing techniques like running stitch and back stitch on binca fabric. Using felt and embroidery thread, they created beautiful poppies, finishing them with buttons. The project culminated in a hands-on workshop where ch


PCSO Visits Year 6
Our local PCSO visited our school to speak to Year 6 pupils about social media use and criminal responsibility. The session helped children understand how their online choices can have real-life consequences and how to stay safe and responsible both online and offline.


Year 6 Science
Year 6 children learned all about the components and functions of blood. They discovered that blood is made up of four main parts: plasma, red blood cells, white blood cells, and platelets. To help them understand this better, the children took part in a fun hands-on activity. They used different everyday materials to represent each component of blood, showing how they all work together inside our bodies.


Netball Hub Event
A huge well done to our superb netballers who braved the cold, wet weather to play in the Netball Hub event held at St Chads. Elston Hall took 11 players to play as part of two mixed Year 5 and 6 teams. Despite the freezing conditions, the children played brilliantly. Team 2 lost one match, drew 2 and won 2 whilst Team 1 won 5 matches and drew one. Overall just one defeat out of 11 matches played!


Year 6 Gymnastics!
Fantastic work in PE this week! The children showed excellent control, balance and coordination while practising moves. They listened carefully, worked safely and supported one another. We were especially impressed with their confidence and determination to improve their skills. Well done everyone – keep up the great work!
