The girls were incredibly unlucky to lose on penalties after a 1–1 draw in the semi-finals. Semi-Final Bound!
We are incredibly proud of our girls’ football team! After a fantastic group stage, winning all four games, they faced a tough Uplands Primary School side in the quarter-finals. Elston battled hard in the first half, creating plenty of chances but unable to find that clinical edge, going into half-time at 0–0. Gold Medal Victory
Year 4 pupils demonstrated outstanding racket skills while competing against schools from across the city. Elston entered two teams, both of which performed exceptionally well. Team A won every match, securing an impressive 1st place overall and bringing home the gold for Elston. Team B also delivered a fantastic performance, winning several matches and displaying excellent sportsmanship throughout the competition. Wow Badges – March Update
Our sports ambassadors have awarded 328 Wow badges for March. Children can continue to carry out their active travelling and remembering to log this each day in class to earn their next badge. Children only have to do one active type of travelling per week to earn a badge. Don't forget to send photos of your children actively travelling to school to add to our gallery!


Football Stars Impress Against Grammar School!
Seventeen boys and girls from Years 2, 3, and 4 took part in an exciting 7-a-side football friendly against Wolverhampton Grammar School. Both teams were outstanding, demonstrating excellent teamwork, passing, movement, and some fantastic goals throughout. The boys delivered a superb performance, winning their game 8–2. Fantastic Team Effort at Aldersley Hockey Festival
Miss Maguire and Miss Foster were delighted to take nine children to the In2 Hockey Festival at Aldersley Leisure Village! The team took part in four 6‑a‑side games and finished joint 5th. The children played brilliantly as a team and learned so much throughout the afternoon. Umpires and parents commented on how noticeably each player improved as the tournament progressed. The team demonstrated excellent defensive skills, and we celebrated goals from Freddy, Phoebe and Farid!

Year 2 Strike Gold!
We are incredibly proud of our Year 2 Multiskills team, who once again represented the school brilliantly in a competition involving 10 schools from across the city. Elston achieved the highest scores in 8 out of 10 events on the day, earning an impressive gold medal. This is a remarkable accomplishment, especially considering that 50 schools initially entered the competition earlier in the year, with Elston securing 1st place overall. Our cross country team competed in the City Finals against schools from across the area. Despite challenging conditions, the girls delivered an outstanding performance, securing first place and finishing as overall champions across all competitions entered this year. We are extremely proud of our gymnastics team who competed at St Edmund’s School. The girls achieved an impressive 5th place out of 10 schools across the city, demonstrating excellent jumping, balancing, and landing skills throughout the day. Six pupils were awarded bronze and silver medals, while several others narrowly missed out on top-three positions. This represents a fantastic achievement for all involved. Well done, Elston!


Elston Girls Impress at Football Festival
Many of our Year 3 and Year 4 pupils recently attended a football festival at Aldersley Leisure Village. Elston entered two teams, both of whom demonstrated excellent teamwork and commitment throughout the event. Team 1, led by Mr Turner, recorded two wins, one draw, and two losses, showcasing strong collaboration and determination in every match. Strong Team Effort from Year 6 Tag Rugby
Our Year 6 tag rugby team participated in a tournament held at Wolverhampton Rugby Club where 12 schools competed. The team played a total of 11 matches against all the participating schools winning 5 games, drawing 3 and losing 3 games. Elston V Grammar School
Elston faced their final group fixture at home against a very strong Wolverhampton Grammar School side, and it proved to be a thrilling contest from start to finish. The game began cautiously, with both teams battling for control and chances were slim. Then, 10 minutes in, Shaye pounced on a loose ball and unleashed a thunderous strike into the bottom corner to give Elston the lead — 1–0!
