Issue 14 - Summer 2025

Proud to be ELSTON! Empowered, Listeners, Successful, Together, Open-Minded, Nurturing
Dear families,
Welcome to the Summer term!
I hope that you enjoyed the Easter break. Children have settled brilliantly back into school and made a great start to their summer term learning.
Thank you to all families who managed to attend parent consultation meetings before the Easter break. 570 meetings were booked, providing families and teachers with an opportunity to discuss attainment and progress so far this year. End of year reports will be sent out in July with a final summary of your child's achievements, and there will be an opportunity to meet with the class teacher should you wish to do so. Parents of pupils with SEN will be offered an additional meeting to discuss your child's progress through their Individual Learning Support Plan (ILSP) / EHCP in June.
In the last week of term, we celebrated Easter and EYFS paraded some excellent bonnets - well done! Pictures can be found here: Egg-cellent Easter Bonnets! Happy Easter Year 2 welcomed a range of animals as part of their topic Going Wild! Well done to all for taking part and holding a variety of creatures including snakes and cockroaches! See here for photos: Animal Man Visit
Summer term clubs have started - 18 clubs have been organised and 340 pupils have been allocated places. Thank you in advance to all staff leading these clubs! I look forward to seeing the exciting activities taking place.
Our first fortnight back has been extremely busy! Please see our blogs on our website for pictures Recent News | Elston Hall including: Year 4 Rain Forest Workshop!, Year 1 Spring Walk, PCSO Visit to Nursery, Year 2 Puppet Masters!, Reception Celebrates VE Day! and Year 4 Bikeability!
Next week our year 6 pupils will tackle their SATs. Thank you in advance to families for ensuring that pupils arrive in school on time and ready to go. We will ensure they have a good breakfast and staff will ensure that pupils are calm and organised, ready to do their very best! Good luck Year 6 - we know you can do it!
It'll be a busy summer term with lots of exciting events planned and of course lots of progress to be made in learning!
Thank you for your continuing support,

From time to time you might receive letters regarding your child's attendance. These letters are sent to many families and are sent regardless of whether you have contacted school or not to inform us of the absence.
Year 6 SATs
Next week, Year 6 will complete their SATS tests. We'd all like to wish them the best of luck and know that they will try their very hardest. Here are a few tips to ensure pupils are calm, prepared and confident...
Eat healthily and get some fresh air this weekend
Get at least 8 hours sleep
If you want to revise this weekend, make sure you take regular breaks
Do not compare yourself with your friends - do the best YOU can do!
In the tests...
Take deep breaths if you find yourself panicking
Raise your hand and speak to an adult if you feel overwhelmed
If you get completely stuck on a question, move on and come back to it
Good luck Year 6.
Summer Camps

Lost Property
In order to prevent a huge build up of lost property this term, please can we ask that all items are labelled so that we can reunite them with their owner, particularly jumpers, cardigans and hoodies which pupils often remove in the warmer weather. Thank you!
Proud!
A huge well done to Kurtis who raised £3000 for Cancer Research! His amazing achievement has made it to local and national news. We are very proud!
Sports News
Our Elston team finished the season with a win against Perry Hall. The game was in the balance at half time with Elston scoring just before half time - our left winger blasting a shot into the top corner, 1-0. Elston took a while to get going in the second half until our right winger took it past the full back and smashed it past the Perry Hall goal keeper - 2-0! From then on, it was about seeing the game out but the Elston team weren't done yet! Our centre midfielder and captain picked the ball up from 20 yards out, striking it with power at the keeper who couldn't keep it out! The game finished 3-0 with Elston being crowned City Champions!
Throughout the year, Elston Team have demonstrated so many of our Elston Values! Mr Green, Mr Turner, Miss Willis and everyone else at Elston Hall are so proud of the achievement of the team!
Well done to everyone involved!

Parking
Can we please remind parents to ensure they are parked courteously when picking up / dropping off children at school. This includes areas such as Newbury Road where residents have had issues with cars blocking drives and access recently. Thank you for your support with this.
Lunch menus
Our regular lunch menus can be found here: Lunches | Elston Hall. Please review these with your children so that they know what is on offer each day. If you have not yet returned your child's Miquills allergy forms, please could these be sent back into school as soon as possible. Thank you.

Importance of the first 1,001 days
We would like to share with you a video that raises awareness of the importance of the first 1,001 days First 1001 Days
The first 1,001 days of a child's life, from when a baby is conceived until their second birthday, is a hugely important time for a baby’s brain development. The care given during these early years has more influence on a child’s future than at any other time in their life.
When babies have close and secure relationships with their parents and caregivers, it helps them to manage their emotions and sets them up for good relationships and a bright future ahead.
We ask that you please share the video with your teams, and where possible, any families that you are supporting. We also kindly ask if you have facilities available, such as digital screens, to display the video in your settings for families and professionals.
