Yesterday, 10 children from Year 2 competed in the Black Country Games finals held at Wolverhampton University in the Multi-skills competition. The children had qualified for the finals after winning the local event earlier in the year. The prestigious event was took place alongside many other schools from across the Black Country for sports including netball, cricket, dodgeball and handball. The children enjoyed the opening ceremony with Nevaeh being selected as flagbearer for Wolverhampton before the competition started.
During the event, the children competed in the spirit of the Black Country games showing enthusiasm, determination and teamwork. The competition included 10 different events including the speed bounce, beanbag relay, under and over, basketball bounce and the cone dash which demonstrated a range of skills including speed, balance, coordination and agility.
The children were fantastic representatives of Elston Hall and were crowned winners of the event meaning they are Black Country champions! An incredible achievement which contributed to Wolverhampton eventually being named as Black Country champions!
A huge thank you also goes to Mr Green for his dedication and hard work training the pupils at their multi-skills after school club ready for the event to allow them to be successful!
