May 2024
Year Four have had a busy few days with our residential!
We travelled to Conwy and Llandudno in North Wales, and had great fun comparing these locations with our Local Area here in Fordhouses. We put our animal knowledge to the test at the Welsh Mountain Zoo, and watched the Live Bird talks with the owls and penguins. At the hostel, we tested our life skills by unpacking and making our beds, and enjoyed some time playing together in the garden before our tea and hot chocolate and bed time.
The next day we travelled to Llandudno, where we had an exciting tram ride up the Great Orme, including exploring the ancient Mine. We had great fun in the arcade, winning lots of tickets and then walked along the old pier and enjoyed a delicious ice-cream whilst dodging the pesky seagulls. Our day ended with us playing on the beach in the golden sunshine, collecting shells and stones, building sandcastles and making rock sculptures.
On Wednesday, we explored the town of Conwy, comparing it to our local area. We visited the smallest house in Great Britain and also the beautiful Conwy Castle, where we had a picnic to escape the rain.
The children had a wonderful time, and made magical memories. Thank you to all our families and staff for making our trip possible.
Whilst on the trip, some children chose to stay in school. They had a great few days completing their own local walk, looking at the land use and the issue of litter. Back in class, they practised their times tables ready for the upcoming test, and also worked on watercolour pictures of animals. They were also treated to hot chocolate and biscuits, just like those children on the residential. Thanks to the staff for looking after them so well.
