Safer Internet Day is the largest global online safety campaign.
This year's theme, ‘Smart tech, safe choices – Exploring the safe and responsible use of AI,’ focuses on teaching children and young people the skills to use AI technology safely and responsibly, and highlights available support.
Throughout the week, children have had lessons focussing on internet safety.
In Year 5, pupils explored the world of artificial intelligence by discussing and debating how it can be both helpful and harmful. They shared thoughtful ideas about how AI supports learning and everyday life, while also considering important risks such as misinformation and over-reliance on technology. Building on these conversations, the children created informative leaflets and eye-catching posters to share their understanding. They also wrote reflective letters of advice to their future selves, offering warnings and guidance about using AI responsibly. It was inspiring to see such mature thinking and creativity as pupils considered the future of technology and their role within it.
